    Romans 11:25-36
    Israel will be saved

    25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
     
    26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
     
    27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
     
    28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.
     
    29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
     
    30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
     
    31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
     
    32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
     
    33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
     
    34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
     
    35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
     
    36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

    Margin notes:
     
    "Your own conceits." (11:25) - "Your own arrogance."
     
    "Blindness in part is happened to Israel." (11:25) - Not all of Israel was blind to the Gospel, many Jews believed.
     
    "Until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in." (11:25) - "Until many Gentiles (non-Jews) come to Jesus."  Also, read Jesus' words in Luke 21:24.
     
    "Israel shall be saved: as it is written." (11:26) - Written in Isaiah 45:17, which teaches us that Israel won't always reject the Messiah, and when they accept Him, it will be forever.
     
    "There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer." (11:26) - From Psalm 14:7; 53:6 and Isaiah 59:20.  Sion is Greek for Zion, which is Jerusalem or Judaism (Psalm 149:2).  Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah (the Deliverer) would come out of Judaism.  Jesus was Jewish and therefore fulfilled the prophecy.
      
    "This is my covenant unto them." (11:27) - "This is my agreement with them."  See Jeremiah 31:34.
     
    "Concerning the gospel." (11:28) - "Concerning the good news."
     
    "Touching the election." (11:28) - "About Jews being God's chosen people."
     
    "They are beloved for the father's sakes." (11:28) - The Jewish "father's" are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
     
    "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." (11:29) - God does not change His mind (repent) about those He calls or the gifts He gives them (Malachi 3:6).
     
    "In times past have not believed God." (11:30) - Before Christ, Gentiles did not believe in God.  Read Ephesians 2:2 to learn who they followed.   
     
    "That he might have mercy upon all." (11:32) - God's mercy is for all who believe, Jew and Gentile (Galatians 3:22).
     
    "How unsearchable are his judgments." (11:33) - "No one can understand God's way."  This message is reinforced in Psalm 145:3.
     
    "Who hath been his counsellor?" (11:33) - "Who has been His (God's) adviser?"

    God's Mercy Is for Everyone
     
    25 I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ.

    26 And so all Israel will be saved. As the Scriptures say,
     
      "The one who rescues will come from Jerusalem,
          and he will turn Israel away from ungodliness.

    27 And this is my covenant with them,
          that I will take away their sins."
     
    28 Many of the people of Israel are now enemies of the Good News, and this benefits you Gentiles. Yet they are still the people he loves because he chose their ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

    29 For God's gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.

    30 Once, you Gentiles were rebels against God, but when the people of Israel rebelled against him, God was merciful to you instead.

    31 Now they are the rebels, and God's mercy has come to you so that they, too, will share in God's mercy.

    ​32 For God has imprisoned everyone in disobedience so he could have mercy on everyone.
     
    33 Oh, how great are God's riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!
     
    34 For who can know the Lord's thoughts?
          Who knows enough to give him advice?

    ​35 And who has given him so much
          that he needs to pay it back?
     
    36 For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.

    This second Bible text from the "New Living Translation" (Tyndale House, Publishers, Wheaton, Illinois) is a paraphrase and not an accurate word for word translation of the Bible.  However, it is a helpful tool when read with the "King James Version."

    1.​ Verse 11:33 is the opening line to the doxology (song of praise) that ends with verse 11:36.  The song celebrates God's wisdom.  God's vast and unknowable knowledge creates faith in believers.  It is because we can not possibly understand the ways of God, the mind of God (Isaiah 55:8), or the creation of the universe that convinces Christians that God exists.  The very breath of life in every living creature proves that God is all-powerful and all-knowing.  

    "The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament sheweth his handywork." (Psalm 19:1)

    "Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?"  (Isaiah 40:12)    



    ​Application thought for the day:
     
    Neither God's invitation to be saved nor His gift of salvation will ever be taken away. 
    Gods promises are never broken (11:29). ​
