Read both the "King James Bible" and the "New Living Translation."

In this lesson:

The final seven plagues mark the end of the seven-year Tribulation.

These last and worst plagues are often called "the seven vial judgments."
These seven plagues begin in chapter 16 (lesson 489).

The sea of glass (15:2).

The songs of Moses and the Lamb (15:3-4).

Seven angels carry God's wrath in seven bowls.

The way to salvation:

First, acknowledge that we have all sinned and that the penalty for sin is eternal punishment.
Second, repent and confess that Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and was resurrected.
Lastly, pray and make Jesus Christ a part of your life.

Forgiveness of sins and salvation comes through the Son of God.

Song of Moses

1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:

6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.

8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

Margin notes:

"I saw another sign." (15:1) - "I saw another vision."

"Seven angels having the seven last plagues." (15:1) - The angel's mission? To put an end to the antichrist.

"A sea of glass mingled with fire." (15:2) - "A sea of glass mixed with fire." We first saw the sea of glass, which lays "before the throne" of God, in verse 4:6. Now it is ablaze with God's wrath.

"Song of Moses." (15:3-4) - In Exodus 15:1-18, Moses and the Israelites sang a song praising God for freeing them from Egyptian slavery. The song in this passage praises God for delivering Christians from Satan. You can find another song by Moses in Deuteronomy 32:1-33.

"Who shall not fear thee, O Lord." (15:4) - "Who will not respect you, O Lord." Why respect God? For a short list of reasons, read Genesis 1:1, Psalm 145:17, and Jeremiah 10:7.

"Thy judgments are made manifest." (15:4) - "Your judgments are revealed."

"The temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened." (15:5) - "The Temple (the Tent of the congregation) in heaven was opened."

"Clothed in pure and white linen." (15:6) - White linen represents purity and innocence and was commonly worn by Jewish high priests.

"Their breasts girded with golden girdles." (15:6) - "Their chests bound with golden belts." The angels are dressed similarly to Jesus (1:13).

"Seven golden vials." (15:7) - "Seven golden bowls." Jewish priests used similar bowls in the Temple (2 Kings 12:13; 25:15).

The Song of Moses and of the Lamb

1 Then I saw in heaven another marvelous event of great significance. Seven angels were holding the seven last plagues, which would bring God's wrath to completion.

2 I saw before me what seemed to be a glass sea mixed with fire. And on it stood all the people who had been victorious over the beast and his statue and the number representing his name. They were all holding harps that God had given them.

3 And they were singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:

  "Great and marvelous are your works,
      O Lord God, the Almighty.
   Just and true are your ways,
      O King of the nations.

4 Who will not fear you, Lord,
      and glorify your name?
      For you alone are holy.
   All nations will come and worship before you,
      for your righteous deeds have been revealed."

The Seven Bowls of the Seven Plagues

5 Then I looked and saw that the Temple in heaven, God's Tabernacle, was thrown wide open.

6 The seven angels who were holding the seven plagues came out of the Temple. They were clothed in spotless white linen with gold sashes across their chests.

7 Then one of the four living beings handed each of the seven angels a gold bowl filled with the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.

8 The Temple was filled with smoke from God's glory and power. No one could enter the Temple until the seven angels had completed pouring out the seven plagues.

This second Bible text from the "New Living Translation" (Tyndale House, Publishers, Wheaton, Illinois) is a paraphrase and not an accurate word-for-word translation of the Bible. However, it is a helpful tool when read with the "King James Version."
